« I wanted to give you more information on the planned "African Expedition". The trip is planned from 19 July to 1 August 2009, and will start in Johannesburg South Africa. (Below is a provisional itinerary).

Note that the two rivers that will be run is the Zambezi (4 days) including the wave that breaks on the Zambezi for just two weeks a year at the end of July (see attached photo), and the Kafue (2 days). The Kafue will be a first descent by Riverboard / Hydrospeed and is a serious big volume river (see attached document).

The entire trip will be accompanied and filmed by top-rated Whitewater Kayakers (Dale Jardine & Douglas Greaves and NIco Chassing - these guys paddle with Steve Fisher) and are familiar with both the Zambezi and the Kafue. If time allows we may also attempt to do a creek-type river in South Africa called the Ash, which has water 365 days a year.

Please extend an invitation to everyone whom you think might be interested, and ask that they contact me via email for more information.

The Kafue River

Quelques infos sur la Kafue River :

« The Kafue is the second largest river in Zambia. It takes its source in the Congo and flows south, across Zambia, before joining the Zambezi near Chirundu, in a 600 miles journey. It is just before it meets the Zambezi than the Kafue cascades down a steep escarpment, called the Kafue gorge »
